LEGANÉS

HOLA FROM LEGANÉS

I am out of the CCM and in the real world! This past week has been a roller coaster. I had a million and a half spiritual experiences towards the end of my stay in the CCM. So many answered prayers. The way that the Lord orchestrates all of his plans is incredible, I have seen the hand of the Lord so much more recently and I have seen how throughout my life he has been preparing me for the mission.

So my first area is Leganés! My trainers name is Hermana Burnham, she's a super crafty, cutesy girl, so sweet, dedicated and helpful. The Barrio (area/ward) is pretty large with lots of potential though. I'm obsessed with our piso (apartment), I'm adding pictures. It's so cute and it's 2 stories (2 extra rooms) and so many large windows, it just feels so cozy. There's a lot to learn here, the area, the people, the language!!!! My spanish has already improved so much but with each lesson we've already had as long as the spirit is there my "tongue is loosed" and it's like I can just go on and on and barely even recognize I'm not speaking English!

So we spent the first day with our mission pres and his wife and that was so awesome, their house is gorgeous. Then we were off to our areas that we were assigned! We had quite a few lessons this week. One of which was a pass by, it was definitely inspiration from God. She started crying and had an amazing testimony, she just said she doesn't have time right now because of work and other things. Something I've been thinking a lot about is evaluating our faith once in a while. What are we willing to sacrifice for the Lord who sacrificed everything for us? In Heleman 15:9 we read about the soldiers who gave up everything, all their weapons and went into battle wholly relying on faith from the Lord to protect them. I hope we can continue to teach Orfa and help her understand how important ACTING in faith is rather than waiting for miracles and how it can uplift our lives! And i hope i can continue is this (battle) field with full faith in the Lord, taking every chance I can to act on it. ALSO We have a family and the dad is getting baptized, but the mom and kids are still unsure, the mom feels like she needs to forgive people. But the family is SO cute and Alex, the dad, has such a strong testimony already and I know he's being such a good example for his fam. They are amazing. The little girl Ashli is 5 and wants to be just like us and wears a HLJ (CTR) ring, I love it. The ward is so fun, it's hard when I'm still trying to understand everything and get to know people in another language but love is all I need.

About Leganés: Our main forms of transportation are WALKING, metro, train, and bus, and WALKING. The pioneer children sang as they walked and walked and walked and walked and walked..... They basically have a "Chino" store every 5 feet aka a store where everything is cheap and lots of snacks and bread and bread and the same like ice cream truck type ice cream lol they're called Alementación. LOTS of bars. Medio día is funny cuz everything closes and I have no idea where the people go. And most my everything is super cheap!

FOOD!! I've had 2 home meals so far and both amazing. Traditional Spanish tortillas, which are potatoes and egg cooked together in a skillet, lots of rice and meat and fish. The helado here is WONDERFUL. We got some today and we plan to go back like every week and try all the flavors lol, Also everybody here always is carrying baguettes and I think it's hilarious, literally every person we pass has a baguette in their hand. I need to know their secret cuz a lot of them are so small and just always eating bread !!! ALSO the almond milk here is seriously amazing, I can't even explain it, I've already had 2 cartons just since being in the field...but it's healthy so it's okay!!

FUNNY STORY/PRAYER-  In my piso (apartment) with my companion I prayed....."Bendicenos que podamos abre nuestras vacas" but I meant bocas, so I said bless us that we may be able to open our cows but I meant mouths lol.   I also said "bendice sus ojos" and I meant hijos so I said bless her eyes instead of kids.

I HAVE A LOT OF PICTURES I'M SORRY. I want to send them all but you probably will get bored but here ya go!!!
